Be in the Know Before You Put In A Offer!

Malibu - Septic, Inc. provides soil percolation testing services to property owners, engineers, land developers, and real estate professionals. Many undeveloped parcels in Malibu lack current soil percolation testing which makes purchasing the property a crap shoot. We provide soil percolation testing services to enable our clients to determine if a property has soil conducive to a septic system installation or if it is a property that should be passed. Knowing if a site perc's or not beforehand can save you big money.

SOIL PERCOLATION TESTING
A percolation 'perc' test is performed to establish the development viability of a property in regards to it's ability to have a onsite wastewater treatment system installed which will properly treat wastewater before it reenters the water table. Percolation testing may consists of subsurface exploration, field testing, surface reconnaissance, and soils analysis to determine the percolation rate of a particular site.

Tests typically consists of either drilled test holes or excavated test pits which are tested to determine whether they can function hydraulically and provide service as a dispersal field. The holes are presoaked with water to fully saturate the soil. After the hole is allowed time to soak, the hole is then filled to a measured height. The height of the water is measured at specified time intervals over a specified time period.

The test results are then used to properly size an onsite wastewater treatment system. The slower the percolation rate the larger the drain field will need to be. Additionally, the more bedrooms that are proposed, the larger the required system will be.
